High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea

Today I announce the appointment of Mr John Feakes as Australia's next High Commissioner to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.

Mr Feakes is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently High Commissioner to Fiji.

He has previously served overseas as High Commissioner to Kenya and Deputy High Commissioner and Counsellor in Papua New Guinea, in addition to postings in the United States of America and the Philippines.

I thank outgoing High Commissioner Mr Jon Philp for his contributions to advancing Australia's interests in Papua New Guinea since 2020.
