Today I announce the appointment of Ms Lisa White as Australia’s next High Commissioner to Nauru.
Australia and Nauru enjoy a deep, long-standing bilateral relationship, which is underpinned by a shared history, close people-to-people links and cultural affinity.
Australia is proud to be Nauru’s largest and most comprehensive economic, security and development partner. We take seriously our responsibility to work together to forge a more peaceful, stable and prosperous region.
The Australia-Nauru bilateral relationship has been advanced through the landmark Nauru-Australia Treaty, which elevates our relationship to an integrated economic, social and security partnership.
Ms White is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She has previously served overseas in Papua New Guinea, Egypt and Afghanistan.
I thank outgoing High Commissioner Matthew Barclay for his contributions to advancing Australia’s interests in Nauru since 2025.
