Consul-General in Bali

  • Media release

Today I announce the appointment of Jo Stevens as Australia's next Consul-General in Bali.

Australia's relationship with Indonesia is one of our closest and most important. We share a vision for a peaceful, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

We are connected through deep trade, education, and people-to-people links, and our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership reflects a mutual commitment to increasing our cooperation across a wide range of issues.

Our close economic partnership is built on the foundations of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. Bolstering two-way trade and investment with Indonesia is also a key focus of Australia's Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.

The Consulate-General in Bali advances Australia's business, development, education and cultural interests in Bali and East and West Nusa Tenggara.

With over one million Australians visiting Bali each year, providing high-quality consular services to Australians remains a top priority for the Consulate-General.

Ms Stevens is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and has previously served overseas in Port Moresby, Bangkok, Baghdad, Hong Kong and London.

I thank former Consul-General Anthea Griffin for her contributions to advancing Australia's interests in Bali since 2019.
