Today I announce the appointment of Ms Amanda Riethmuller as Australia’s next Ambassador to Kuwait.
Australia values its long-standing and friendly relationship with Kuwait, underpinned by strong trade, investment and people-to-people links, as well as a commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East.
Kuwait is one of Australia’s largest sources of investment from the Middle East and a significant agricultural export market for Australia. Our education and research cooperation is expanding through the presence of Australian education providers in Kuwait, and the thousands of Kuwaitis who have chosen to study in Australia.
Ms Riethmuller is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She has previously served overseas in Russia and Saudi Arabia, and on a short-term mission as Head of the Australian Representative Office in Ramallah.
I thank outgoing Ambassador Melissa Kelly for her contributions to advancing Australia’s interests in Kuwait since 2022.
