Re-appointment of the Director-General, ASIS
I am delighted to announce that the Government has re-appointed Mr Nick Warner AO PSM as the Director-General of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service (ASIS) for a further five years; a role he has filled with distinction and professionalism.
He has been an outstanding Director-General and he has also made a significant contribution to Australia's broader international engagement.
In this post-Snowden era, and with the increased threat of terrorism and a range of other national security challenges, it is important that Australia retain continuity and experienced leadership within the intelligence community.
Mr Warner brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to ASIS.
In addition to his service as Director-General, Mr Warner has served in a number of senior roles within Australia's foreign affairs, defence and intelligence communities.
