Special Coordinator of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands
I am pleased to announce Quinton Devlin will be the next Special Coordinator of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI).
Australia is committed to supporting prosperity and security in the Solomon Islands. Our long term commitment to RAMSI has created the conditions necessary for stability and peace, and a growing economy.
Since 2013, RAMSI has been a policing mission, working in partnership with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), which is now an effective and independent police force supported by the community.
Mr Devlin will oversee RAMSI's support to the RSIPF and the mission's drawdown towards mid-2017.
Mr Devlin is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, with experience in international affairs and security issues. For the past three years, Mr Devlin has served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy in Brasilia. He has held a number of positions within the department, including director in the H1N1 Swine Influenza Task Force and APEC reform teams.
Overseas, he has served in the Philippines (2005-07) and as a Peace Monitor in Bougainville (2000). Mr Devlin holds a Masters in Management from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor in Law and Bachelor in Arts (Honours) from Monash University.
Mr Devlin is expected to take up his appointment in December 2015, replacing Justine Braithwaite who has served as Special Coordinator since November 2013. I would like to thank Ms Braithwaite for her contribution to RAMSI as Special Coordinator.
