Dame Meg Taylor appointed as Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat

  • Media release

I warmly welcome the appointment of Dame Meg Taylor as Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, selected by the Pacific Islands Forum leaders from an impressive field.

Dame Meg has long been an impressive representative of both Papua New Guinea and the Pacific on the international stage, including as Papua New Guinea's Ambassador to the United States and most recently as Vice President of the World Bank Group. She has championed private sector led growth and has been a pioneer for women's economic empowerment.

With her experience and expertise, Dame Meg will bring a powerful intellect and a global perspective to the role of Secretary General. She will also be the first female Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum.

I look forward to working closely with Dame Meg in what will be a period of renewed Pacific regionalism.
