Consul-General in Bali
Media release
11 February 2014
Today I announce the appointment of Ms Majell Hind as Australia's next Consul-General in Bali, Indonesia.
Ms Hind is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was until recently Counsellor (Management) and Consul-General at the Australian Embassy in Kabul. She has previously served as Consul-General at the Australian High Commissions in Kuala Lumpur and Port Moresby, and has undertaken a number of short-term missions, including to Jakarta.
Ms Hind holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Australian National University.
With over 800,000 Australians arriving in Bali in 2013, a key role of the Consulate-General is to provide consular and passport services to Australian travellers. Our ties with the island province also encompass a range of official, business, community, health and education links.
Australia and Indonesia share a long history of productive cooperation to advance our common interests. These include political, security, business, education and people-to-people ties. The Government is committed to deepening our engagement with Indonesia across the broad range of interests we share to put the relationship on an even stronger footing for the future.
Ms Hind has taken up her appointment, replacing Mr Brett Farmer.
