Be a Smartraveller this Anzac Day
With Anzac Day approaching, all Australians planning to travel to commemorative services in Turkey, France or Belgium are urged to read the new Anzac Day Smartraveller bulletin issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The bulletin should be read in conjunction with the travel advisories for Turkey, France and Belgium.
We strongly advise all Australians travelling to commemorative services abroad to register their travel and contact details with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, subscribe to Smartraveller to receive travel advice and travel bulletin updates by e-mail, and take out comprehensive travel insurance.
In addition to the Smartraveller website, major updates to travel advice and travel bulletins are posted on the Smartraveller Facebook page and on twitter via @Smartraveller.
Australians travelling to Gallipoli or Villers-Bretonneux are also encouraged to register their intention to attend commemorative services with the Department of Veteran Affairs (Gallipoli registration or Villers-Bretonneux registration).
Further information on how to prepare and what to expect when attending the dawn service at Gallipoli is available on the Department of Veterans Affairs' website.
Anzac Day commemorations are important to all Australians in honouring the sacrifices of our servicemen and women. We would like to wish all those attending events abroad a safe journey.
