Australia-Korea Foundation Board Appointment

  • Media release

I welcome the appointment of Dr Naomi Mathers, a science and engineering expert, to the board of the Australia Korea Foundation.

Dr Mathers is an active member of the Australian space industry, and Industry Liaison Engineer at the Australian National University Advanced Instrumentation and Technology Centre. Last year, she was awarded two Women in Industry awards for industry advocacy and engineering excellence.

Dr Mathers will work with other Foundation board members to help Australian businesses, services professionals, academics and students explore opportunities in Korea through economic, science, sports and cultural partnerships.

Australia and Korea have complementary economies, vibrant cultures and an enduring commitment to supporting peace and prosperity in our region. Korea is our third largest export market and fourth-largest trading partner. The Korea-Australia Free Trade Agreement entered into force on 12 December 2014, which will further strengthen our economic and people-to-people ties.

Dr Mathers is replacing outgoing member Jacquie Riddell, who I thank for her exemplary service on the Australia-Korea Foundation board.

Dr Mathers joins current board members Peter Coleman, Georgina Carnegie, James Cotton, Susan Street, and Ian Williams.
