Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop has addressed delegates at the Third Australia-China Forum being hosted by the Australian National University in Canberra. Former Chinese Foreign Minister Mr Li Zhaoxing and former Australian Treasurer Mr Peter Costello AC are co-chairing the meeting.
The annual Forum brings together around thirty senior participants from political, business, media, academic and cultural circles to engage in frank, informal and wide-ranging discussions reflecting the breadth of the bilateral relationship.
Exchanging perspectives in this way contributes to greater understanding between Australia and China. It helps both sides to explore opportunities for greater collaboration on our shared interests, as well as to manage any differences that may arise from time to time.
Ms Bishop also addressed Forum delegates last night at the welcome reception and dinner hosted by the Governor General, the Hon Quentin Bryce AC CVO, at Government House.
