Australia-China Council Grants

  • Media release

Today I announce the recipients of 31 new grants funded by the Australia-China Council (ACC). The ACC Grants Program strengthens links between Australia and China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan by supporting innovative activities to promote mutual understanding and foster stronger relations.

Australia's partnerships with China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are vital to our economic, strategic and security interests. Australia is also richer for the shared understandings that holistic engagement brings. The projects will focus on the strategic priorities of promoting exchanges in arts and culture, education, economic diplomacy and Australian Studies in China.

Successful ACC grant proposals include:

  • A visit to China by the Port Adelaide Football Club's Aboriginal Academy;
  • Facilitating youth engagement, leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives including the Australia-China Youth Dialogue and the China Australia Millennial Project;
  • Sponsoring the December 2016 Australia-China tourism forum in Adelaide;
  • Addressing mental health education for health professionals in China; and
  • Supporting Indigenous cultural engagement through the visit of Australian band B2M to Taiwan.

The ACC was established in 1978 and has made a significant contribution to strengthening Australia's relationship with China.

More information about the ACC, the grants program and the full list of successful grant recipients is available on the Australia China Council website.
