Australia Awards Hadi Soesastro and Allison Sudradjat Prizes
Today I am delighted to present six Australia Awards Prizes to outstanding Indonesian scholars studying here on Australian Government scholarships.
Mr Abdil Mudhoffir and Ms Sri Sugiarto have been awarded the annual Australia Awards Hadi Soesastro Prize, which honours the late Professor Soesastro, a leading Indonesian economist, academic and public intellectual, and a close friend of Australia. They will each receive up to $25,000 for their post-doctoral work in health and political economy.
Ms Multi Hariyani, Mr Peter Herewila, Mr Sastrawan and Ms Heny Solekhah will receive up to $25,000 as Indonesian recipients of the Allison Sudradjat Prize, named after the late Australian diplomat and humanitarian.
The Allison Sudradjat Prize is awarded annually to four Indonesian and two Papua New Guinean Australia Awards scholars who are undertaking post-graduate degrees in health, education or development.
In 2017, Australia is providing 3,500 Australia Awards Scholarships and Fellowships to emerging leaders for study in Australia and the Pacific.
Along with the New Colombo Plan, these awards and fellowships enhance cooperation between Australia and the region, facilitating educational exchanges and bolstering our already strong people-to-people, education and economic ties.
