Attack involving Australian Embassy vehicles in Kabul

Today, a suspected vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device was detonated near Australian Embassy vehicles while they were travelling in Kabul.

The Australian Government extends its sympathies to families and friends of people killed and injured by this attack

All Australian Embassy staff are safe.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to local media, at least one Afghan civilian was killed in this attack.

The attack again highlights the threat posed by terrorist and insurgent groups to the people of Afghanistan.
