Iraq
26 August 2010
Australia condemns in the strongest possible terms the coordinated bombing and shooting attacks across Iraq against police and civilian targets yesterday, Wednesday 25 August.
Australia is concerned at recent incidences of violence, including during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and very much regrets the loss of life and injury suffered by the Iraqi people.
Australia continues to encourage Iraq's political parties to engage constructively in talks to form as soon as possible a new Iraqi Government that will work for the benefit of all Iraqis.
Formation of a new Iraqi Government would help Iraq better protect its citizens against attacks aimed at undermining Iraq's security.
