Visit to the United Kingdom
Yesterday, Monday 5 October, I held talks with senior members of the British foreign and security policy establishment.
We exchanged views on international challenges, including nuclear proliferation and terrorism.
We discussed Australia and the United Kingdom’s shared commitment to the stabilisation of Afghanistan and recent developments with respect to Iran’s nuclear program.
I also met Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma to discuss the handling of issues likely to arise at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Trinidad and Tobago in November.
Today I met Secretary of State for International Development, Douglas Alexander, to discuss strengthening bilateral development cooperation in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Pacific.
