Ambassador to Sweden
Mr Hugh Borrowman has informed me that, for personal and family reasons, he is unable to proceed with his appointment as Ambassador to Sweden.
Mr Borrowman and his wife are the legal guardians of their adult son, who has a disability.
Mr Borrowman has informed me that he is no longer in a position to take up his posting, as his son's status as a disability support pensioner would not be maintained for the full duration of the posting.
Mr Borrowman is a First Assistant Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He is currently on leave, and on his return from leave will take up a new position within the Department, based in Canberra.
The Government will appoint an Ambassador to Sweden in the near future.
