Staff appointment
I have appointed Ms Frances Adamson as Chief of Staff. Ms Adamson will commence in January 2009.
Ms Adamson is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, having gained wide experience since joining the Department in 1985.
She is currently Deputy High Commissioner at the Australian High Commission in London, a position she has held since July 2005. Between March and September 2008 she acted as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
Ms Adamson has also held positions in Taipei, Hong Kong and at Australia's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
I thank Ms Kate Callaghan for her significant work as Acting Chief of Staff during this year. Ms Callaghan recently accepted a senior executive role in the private sector.
