Joint Statement with Mexico's Minister for Public Education Josefina Vázquez Mota
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia, Mr Stephen Smith, and Mexico’s Minister for Public Education, Josefina Vázquez Mota, met today during Mr Smith’s first visit to Mexico as Foreign Minister.
The Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Education and Training between Australia and Mexico.
They highlighted the excellent level of cooperation and goodwill that Mexico and Australia have achieved in the sphere of education. The Ministers stated their commitment to continue working on the development of joint projects and initiatives to the benefit of both countries.
The MOU establishes an Australia-Mexico Education Committee which will work to advance our bilateral education relationship. The Committee will develop programs to further strengthen our collaboration and enrich both education systems.
Australia is only the second country with which Mexico has established a bilateral Education Committee, underscoring the growing importance of the bilateral education relationship between our two countries.
