Travel Advice for Lebanon
I am concerned by the escalation in political violence and tension in Lebanon.
The Australian Government urges all sides to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation of tensions.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has today reissued the travel advice for Lebanon. The advice strongly urges Australians not to travel to Lebanon due to the highly volatile and worsening security and political situation.
Australians in Lebanon should register their contact details through smartraveller.gov.au and subscribe to the travel advice for regular updates.
Family and friends in Australia with serious concerns for Australians in affected areas can contact the Department’s 24-hour Consular Emergency Centre on 1300 555 135.
At present there are no reports that Australians have been affected by the current violence. However, the Australian embassy in Beirut stands ready to assist any Australians who may require consular assistance.
