Hyderabad bombings
I condemn utterly Saturday's bombings at two locations in Hyderabad - at a popular amusement park and a well-known restaurant. The bombings follow attacks in Hyderabad in May this year, including at a prominent mosque.
These latest bombings reportedly killed at least 40 people and injured a further 80. Such cowardly acts of terrorism are to be deplored - they kill and maim the innocent to advance a political agenda. India's resilience and dignity in the face of continuing acts of terrorism underline its deep traditions of tolerance.
Australia is continuing to deepen its cooperation with India against terrorism, including through practical activities in the fields of law enforcement, intelligence, border control, and defence. Australian and Indian officials will be holding talks on counter-terrorism on 29-30 August in Canberra under the auspices of our bilateral MOU on Counter-Terrorism.
